Fortress of Panikota (also known as ‘Fortim do Mar’) is a magnificent stone structure in the sea, built right at the mouth of the creek. It was main prison complex at the time when the Portuguese ruled Diu.This fortress can be reached only by a canoe or a motor launch.

This fortress has a light house and small chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Sea. The fortress offers a very beautiful view whether seen from the jetty, from the Fort, from the village of Ghoghla or from Diu proper.

Getting There
Fortress of Panikota is not accessible to public but you can see it from Diu Fort and the real beauty is when you see it in the night.You can get around Diu in autos , which readily available. Diu transport operates mini busses across the union territory, but they're not very frequent. Taxis are available for rent at the town center and bus stand. Local transport is available from Una, Gujarat.
The nearest railhead to Diu is located nearly 90 km from the city in Veraval. One can take state bus or private bus to reach this place from Varaval Railway station.
Air India Regional and Jet Airways service the Diu island from Mumbai with one hour flight landing at Diu Airport.
